22-1. A GOOD name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favour rather than silver and gold.

pro 22:2

יְהוָֽה	כֻלָּ֣ם	עֹשֵׂ֖ה	נִפְגָּ֑שׁוּ	וָרָ֣שׁ	עָשִׁ֣יר
𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄	𐤊𐤋𐤌	𐤏𐤔𐤄	𐤍𐤐𐤂𐤔𐤅	𐤅𐤓𐤔	𐤏𐤔𐤉𐤓
ya-hwa-ha	kula-m	'a-sha-ha	na-pa-ga-shwa	wa-ra-sha	'a-sha-yr
yehwah	kulam	'oseh	nipegasw	waras	'asiyr
the LORD	of all.	[is] the maker	have this in common:	and the poor	The rich

22-2. The rich and poor meet together: the LORD is the maker of them all.

pro 22:3

וְֽנֶעֱנָֽשׁוּ	עָבְר֥וּ	וּ֝פְתָיִ֗ים	וְנִסְתָּ֑ר	רָעָ֣ה	רָאָ֣ה	עָר֤וּם
𐤅𐤍𐤏𐤍𐤔𐤅	𐤏􉀑𐤓𐤅	𐤅𐤐𐤕𐤉𐤉𐤌	𐤅𐤍𐤎𐤕𐤓	𐤓𐤏𐤄	𐤓𐤀𐤄	𐤏𐤓𐤅𐤌
wa-na-'u-na-shwa	'a-ba-rwa	wpa-tha-ya-ym	wa-na-sa-tha-r	ra-'a-ha	ra-aa-ha	'a-rwm
wene'enasw	'aberw	wpetayiym	wenisetar	ra'ah	ra'ah	'arwm
and suffer the consequences.	keep going	but the simple	and take cover,	danger	see	The prudent

22-3. A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself: but the simple pass on, and are punished.

pro 22:4

וְחַיִּֽים	וְכָבֹ֣וד	עֹ֖שֶׁר	יְהוָ֑ה	יִרְאַ֣ת	עֲ֭נָוָה	עֵ֣קֶב
𐤅𐤇𐤉𐤉𐤌	𐤅𐤊􉀑𐤅𐤃	𐤏𐤔𐤓	𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄	𐤉𐤓𐤀𐤕	𐤏𐤍𐤅𐤄	𐤏𐤒􉀑
wa-cha-ya-ym	wa-ka-ba-wd	'a-sha-r	ya-hwa-ha	ya-ra-aa-tha	'ana-wa-ha	'a-qa-b
wehayiym	wekabowd	'oser	yehwah	yire'at	'anawah	'eqeb
and life.	and honor	[are] wealth	of the LORD	[and] the fear	of humility	The rewards

22-4. By humility and the fear of the LORD are riches, and honour, and life.

pro 22:5

מֵהֶֽם	יִרְחַ֥ק	נַ֝פְשֹׁ֗ו	שֹׁומֵ֥ר	עִקֵּ֑שׁ	בְּדֶ֣רֶךְ	פַּ֭חִים	צִנִּ֣ים
𐤌𐤄𐤌	𐤉𐤓𐤇𐤒	𐤍𐤐𐤔𐤅	𐤔𐤅𐤌𐤓	𐤏𐤒𐤔	􉀑𐤃𐤓𐤊	𐤐𐤇𐤉𐤌	𐤑𐤍𐤉𐤌
ma-ha-m	ya-ra-cha-qh	na-pa-sha-wa	sha-wma-r	'a-qa-sha	ba-da-ra-ka	pa-cha-ym	sa-na-ym
mehem	yirehaq	napesow	sowmer	'iqes	bedereke	pahiym	siniym
from them.	stays far	his soul	he who guards	of the perverse;	[lie] on the path	and snares	Thorns

22-5. Thorns and snares are in the way of the froward: he that doth keep his soul shall be far from them.

pro 22:6

מִמֶּֽנָּה	יָס֥וּר	לֹֽא	כִּֽייַ֝זְקִ֗ין	גַּ֥ם	דַרְכֹּ֑ו	פִּ֣י	עַל	לַ֭נַּעַר	חֲנֹ֣ךְ
𐤌𐤌𐤍𐤄	𐤉𐤎𐤅𐤓	𐤋𐤀	𐤊𐤉𐤉𐤆𐤒𐤉𐤍	𐤂𐤌	𐤃𐤓𐤊𐤅	𐤐𐤉	𐤏𐤋	𐤋𐤍𐤏𐤓	𐤇𐤍𐤊
ma-ma-na-ha	ya-swr	la-a	ka-yya-za-qa-yn	ga-m	da-ra-ka-wa	pa-ya	'a-l	la-na-'a-r	chana-ka
mimenah	yaswr	lo'	kiyyazeqiyn	gam	darekow	piy	'al	lana'ar	hanoke
from it.	depart	he will not	when he is old	and	the way	he should go,	in	a child	Train up

22-6. Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

pro 22:7

מַלְוֶֽה	לְאִ֣ישׁ	לֹ֝וֶ֗ה	וְעֶ֥בֶד	יִמְשֹׁ֑ול	בְּרָשִׁ֣ים	עָ֭שִׁיר
𐤌𐤋𐤅𐤄	𐤋𐤀𐤉𐤔	𐤋𐤅𐤄	𐤅𐤏􉀑𐤃	𐤉𐤌𐤔𐤅𐤋	􉀑𐤓𐤔𐤉𐤌	𐤏𐤔𐤉𐤓
ma-la-wa-ha	la-aa-ysha	la-wa-ha	wa-'a-ba-d	ya-ma-sha-wl	ba-ra-sha-ym	'a-sha-yr
maleweh	le'iys	loweh	we'ebed	yimesowl	berasiym	'asiyr
to the lender.		and the borrower	is slave	rule	over the poor,	The rich

22-7. The rich ruleth over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender.

pro 22:8

יִכְלֶֽה	עֶבְרָתֹ֣ו	וְשֵׁ֖בֶט	אָ֑וֶן	יִקְצָר	עַ֭וְלָה	זֹורֵ֣עַ
𐤉𐤊𐤋𐤄	𐤏􉀑𐤓𐤕𐤅	𐤅𐤔􉀑𐤈	𐤀𐤅𐤍	𐤉𐤒𐤑𐤓	𐤏𐤅𐤋𐤄	𐤆𐤅𐤓𐤏
ya-ka-la-ha	'a-ba-ra-tha-wa	wa-sha-ba-t	aa-wa-n	ya-qa-sa-r	'a-wa-la-ha	za-wra-'a
yikeleh	'eberatow	wesebet	'awen	yiqesar	'awelah	zowre'a
will be destroyed.	of his fury	and the rod		will reap disaster,	injustice	He who sows

22-8. He that soweth iniquity shall reap vanity: and the rod of his anger shall fail.

pro 22:9

לַדָּֽל	לַּחְמֹ֣ו	מִ	כִּֽינָתַ֖ן	יְבֹרָ֑ךְ	ה֣וּא	עַ֭יִן	טֹֽוב
𐤋𐤃𐤋	𐤋𐤇𐤌𐤅	𐤌	𐤊𐤉𐤍𐤕𐤍	𐤉􉀑𐤓𐤊	𐤄𐤅𐤀	𐤏𐤉𐤍	𐤈𐤅􉀑
la-da-l	la-cha-ma-wa	ma	ka-yna-tha-n	ya-ba-ra-ka	hwa	'a-ya-n	ta-wb
ladal	lahemow	mi	kiynatan	yeborake	hw'	'ayin	towb
with the poor.	his food		for he shares	will be blessed,			A generous [man]

22-9. He that hath a bountiful eye shall be blessed; for he giveth of his bread to the poor.

pro 22:10

וְקָלֹֽון	דִּ֣ין	וְ֝יִשְׁבֹּ֗ת	מָדֹ֑ון	וְיֵצֵ֣א	לֵ֭ץ	גָּ֣רֵֽשׁ
𐤅𐤒𐤋𐤅𐤍	𐤃𐤉𐤍	𐤅𐤉𐤔􉀑𐤕	𐤌𐤃𐤅𐤍	𐤅𐤉𐤑𐤀	𐤋𐤑	𐤂𐤓𐤔
wa-qa-la-wn	da-yn	wa-ya-sha-ba-tha	ma-da-wn	wa-ya-sa-a	la-tz	ga-ra-sha
weqalown	diyn	weyisebot	madown	weyese'	les	gares
and insults	even quarreling	will cease.	and conflict	will depart;	the mocker,	Drive out

22-10. Cast out the scorner, and contention shall go out; yea, strife and reproach shall cease.

pro 22:11

מֶֽלֶךְ	רֵעֵ֥הוּ	שְׂ֝פָתָ֗יו	חֵ֥ן	לֵ֑ב	טְהָר	אֹהֵ֥ב
𐤌𐤋𐤊	𐤓𐤏𐤄𐤅	𐤔𐤐𐤕𐤉𐤅	𐤇𐤍	𐤋􉀑	𐤈𐤄𐤓	𐤀𐤄􉀑
ma-la-ka	ra-'a-hwa	sha-pa-tha-ywa	cha-n	la-b	ta-ha-r	aa-ha-b
meleke	re'ehw	sepatayw	hen	leb	tehar	'oheb
[will have] the king	for a friend.	lips	and gracious		a pure heart	He who loves

22-11. He that loveth pureness of heart, for the grace of his lips the king shall be his friend.

pro 22:12

בֹגֵֽד	דִּבְרֵ֥י	וַ֝יְסַלֵּ֗ף	דָ֑עַת	נָ֣צְרוּ	יְ֭הוָה	עֵינֵ֣י
􉀑𐤂𐤃	𐤃􉀑𐤓𐤉	𐤅𐤉𐤎𐤋𐤐	𐤃𐤏𐤕	𐤍𐤑𐤓𐤅	𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄	𐤏𐤉𐤍𐤉
ba-ga-d	da-ba-ra-ya	wa-ya-sa-la-ph	da-'a-tha	na-sa-rwa	ya-hwa-ha	'a-yna-ya
boged	diberey	wayesalep	da'at	naserw	yehwah	'eyney
of the faithless.	the words	but He frustrates	knowledge,	keep watch over	The LORD’s	eyes

22-12. The eyes of the LORD preserve knowledge, and he overthroweth the words of the transgressor.

pro 22:13

אֵֽרָצֵֽחַ	רְ֝חֹבֹ֗ות	בְּתֹ֥וךְ	בַח֑וּץ	אֲרִ֣י	עָ֭צֵל	אָמַ֣ר
𐤀𐤓𐤑𐤇	𐤓𐤇􉀑𐤅𐤕	􉀑𐤕𐤅𐤊	􉀑𐤇𐤅𐤑	𐤀𐤓𐤉	𐤏𐤑𐤋	𐤀𐤌𐤓
aa-ra-sa-cha	ra-cha-ba-wtha	ba-tha-wka	ba-chwtz	aara-ya	'a-sa-l	aa-ma-r
'eraseha	rehobowt	betowke	bahws	'ariy	'asel	'amar
I will be slain	the streets!”	in	outside!	“[There is] a lion	The sluggard	says,

22-13. The slothful man saith, There is a lion without, I shall be slain in the streets.

pro 22:14

שָֽׁם	יִפָּל	יְ֝הוָ֗ה	זְע֥וּם	זָרֹ֑ות	פִּ֣י	עֲ֭מֻקָּה	שׁוּחָ֣ה
𐤔𐤌	𐤉𐤐𐤋	𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄	𐤆𐤏𐤅𐤌	𐤆𐤓𐤅𐤕	𐤐𐤉	𐤏𐤌𐤒𐤄	𐤔𐤅𐤇𐤄
sha-m	ya-pa-l	ya-hwa-ha	za-'wm	za-ra-wtha	pa-ya	'amuqa-ha	shwcha-ha
sam	yipal	yehwah	ze'wm	zarowt	piy	'amuqah	swhah
into it.	will fall	by the LORD	he who is cursed	of an adulteress	The mouth	is a deep	pit;

22-14. The mouth of strange women is a deep pit: he that is abhorred of the LORD shall fall therein.

pro 22:15

מִמֶּֽנּוּ	יַרְחִיקֶ֥נָּה	מ֝וּסָ֗ר	שֵׁ֥בֶט	נָ֑עַר	בְלֶב	קְשׁוּרָ֣ה	אִ֭וֶּלֶת
𐤌𐤌𐤍𐤅	𐤉𐤓𐤇𐤉𐤒𐤍𐤄	𐤌𐤅𐤎𐤓	𐤔􉀑𐤈	𐤍𐤏𐤓	􉀑𐤋􉀑	𐤒𐤔𐤅𐤓𐤄	𐤀𐤅𐤋𐤕
ma-ma-nwa	ya-ra-cha-yqa-na-ha	mwsa-r	sha-ba-t	na-'a-r	ba-la-b	qa-shwra-ha	aa-wa-la-tha
mimenw	yarehiyqenah	mwsar	sebet	na'ar	beleb	qeswrah	'iwelet
from him.	will drive it far	of discipline	[but] the rod	of a child,	in the heart	[is] bound up	Foolishness

22-15. Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him.

pro 22:16

לְמַחְסֹֽור	אַךְ	לְ֝עָשִׁ֗יר	לֹ֑ונֹתֵ֥ן	לְהַרְבֹּ֣ות	דָּ֭ל	עֹ֣שֵֽׁק
𐤋𐤌𐤇𐤎𐤅𐤓	𐤀𐤊	𐤋𐤏𐤔𐤉𐤓	𐤋𐤅𐤍𐤕𐤍	𐤋𐤄𐤓􉀑𐤅𐤕	𐤃𐤋	𐤏𐤔𐤒
la-ma-cha-sa-wr	aa-ka	la-'a-sha-yr	la-wna-tha-n	la-ha-ra-ba-wtha	da-l	'a-sha-qh
lemahesowr	'ake	le'asiyr	lownoten	leharebowt	dal	'oseq
to poverty.	[will] surely lead	to the rich,	or giving gifts	to enrich oneself,	the poor	Oppressing

22-16. He that oppresseth the poor to increase his riches, and he that giveth to the rich, shall surely come to want.

pro 22:17

לְדַעְתִּֽי	תָּשִׁ֥ית	וְ֝לִבְּךָ֗	חֲכָמִ֑ים	דִּבְרֵ֣י	וּ֭שְׁמַע	אָזְנְךָ֗	הַ֥ט
𐤋𐤃𐤏𐤕𐤉	𐤕𐤔𐤉𐤕	𐤅𐤋􉀑𐤊	𐤇𐤊𐤌𐤉𐤌	𐤃􉀑𐤓𐤉	𐤅𐤔𐤌𐤏	𐤀𐤆𐤍𐤊	𐤄𐤈
la-da-'a-tha-ya	tha-sha-ytha	wa-la-ba-ka	chaka-ma-ym	da-ba-ra-ya	wsha-ma-'	aa-za-na-ka	ha-t
leda'etiy	tasiyt	welibeka	hakamiym	diberey	wsema'	'azeneka	hat
to my knowledge—	apply	your mind	of the wise—	the words	and hear	your ear	Incline

22-17. Bow down thine ear, and hear the words of the wise, and apply thine heart unto my knowledge.

שְׂפָתֶֽיךָ	עַל	יַ֝חְדָּ֗ו	יִכֹּ֥נוּ	בְּבִטְנֶ֑ךָ	כִּֽיתִשְׁמְרֵ֣ם	כִּֽינָ֭עִים
𐤔𐤐𐤕𐤉𐤊	𐤏𐤋	𐤉𐤇𐤃𐤅	𐤉𐤊𐤍𐤅	􉀑􉀑𐤈𐤍𐤊	𐤊𐤉𐤕𐤔𐤌𐤓𐤌	𐤊𐤉𐤍𐤏𐤉𐤌
sha-pa-tha-yka	'a-l	ya-cha-da-wa	ya-ka-nwa	ba-ba-ta-na-ka	ka-ytha-sha-ma-ra-m	ka-yna-'a-ym
sepateyka	'al	yahedaw	yikonw	bebiteneka	kiytisemerem	kiyna'iym
your lips.	on	and they are constantly		them within you	when you keep	for it is pleasing

22-18. For it is a pleasant thing if thou keep them within thee; they shall withal be fitted in thy lips.

pro 22:19

אָֽתָּה	אַף	הַיֹּ֣ום	הֹודַעְתִּ֖יךָ	מִבְטַחֶ֑ךָ	בַּ֭יהוָה	לִהְיֹ֣ות
𐤀𐤕𐤄	𐤀𐤐	𐤄𐤉𐤅𐤌	𐤄𐤅𐤃𐤏𐤕𐤉𐤊	𐤌􉀑𐤈𐤇𐤊	􉀑𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄	𐤋𐤄𐤉𐤅𐤕
aa-tha-ha	aa-ph	ha-ya-wm	ha-wda-'a-tha-yka	ma-ba-ta-cha-ka	ba-yhwa-ha	la-ha-ya-wtha
'atah	'ap	hayowm	howda'etiyka	mibetaheka	bayhwah	liheyowt
you.	even	today,	I have instructed you	So that your trust	in the LORD,	may be

22-19. That thy trust may be in the LORD, I have made known to thee this day, even to thee.

pro 22:20

וָדָֽעַת	בְּמֹ֖ועֵצֹ֣ת	לְ֭ךָשָׁלִישִׁ֑ים	כָתַ֣בְתִּי	לֹ֤א	הֲ
𐤅𐤃𐤏𐤕	􉀑𐤌𐤅𐤏𐤑𐤕	𐤋𐤊שׁ𐤋𐤉שׁ𐤉𐤌	𐤊𐤕􉀑𐤕𐤉	𐤋𐤀	𐤄
wa-da-'a-tha	ba-ma-w'a-sa-tha	la-ka-שׁa-la-yשׁa-ym	ka-tha-ba-tha-ya	la-a	ha
wada'at	bemow'esot	lekaשׁaliyשׁiym	katabetiy	lo'	ha
and knowledge,	about counsel	for you thirty sayings	written	Have I not

22-20. Have not I written to thee excellent things in counsels and knowledge,

pro 22:21

לְשֹׁלְחֶֽיךָ	אֱ֝מֶ֗ת	אֲמָרִ֥ים	לְהָשִׁ֥יב	אֱמֶ֑ת	אִמְרֵ֣י	קֹ֖שְׁטְ	לְהֹודִֽיעֲךָ֗
𐤋𐤔𐤋𐤇𐤉𐤊	𐤀𐤌𐤕	𐤀𐤌𐤓𐤉𐤌	𐤋𐤄𐤔𐤉􉀑	𐤀𐤌𐤕	𐤀𐤌𐤓𐤉	𐤒𐤔𐤈	𐤋𐤄𐤅𐤃𐤉𐤏𐤊
la-sha-la-cha-yka	au-ma-tha	aama-ra-ym	la-ha-sha-yb	au-ma-tha	aa-ma-ra-ya	qa-sha-ta	la-ha-wda-y'aka
lesoleheyka	'emet	'amariym	lehasiyb	'emet	'imerey	qosete	lehowdiy'aka
to those who sent you?	sound	answers	so that you can give	and reliable	words,	true	to show you

22-21. That I might make thee know the certainty of the words of truth; that thou mightest answer the words of truth to them that send unto thee?

pro 22:22

בַשָּֽׁעַר	עָנִ֣י	תְּדַכֵּ֖א	וְאַל	ה֑וּא	כִּ֣ידַל	דָּ֭ל	תִּגְזָל	אַֽל
􉀑𐤔𐤏𐤓	𐤏𐤍𐤉	𐤕𐤃𐤊𐤀	𐤅𐤀𐤋	𐤄𐤅𐤀	𐤊𐤉𐤃𐤋	𐤃𐤋	𐤕𐤂𐤆𐤋	𐤀𐤋
ba-sha-'a-r	'a-na-ya	tha-da-ka-a	wa-aa-l	hwa	ka-yda-l	da-l	tha-ga-za-l	aa-l
basa'ar	'aniy	tedake'	we'al	hw'	kiydal	dal	tigezal	'al
at the gate,	the afflicted	crush	and do not	he	man because is poor,	a poor	rob	Do not

22-22. Rob not the poor, because he is poor: neither oppress the afflicted in the gate:

pro 22:23

נָֽפֶשׁ	קֹבְעֵיהֶ֣ם	אֶת	וְקָבַ֖ע	רִיבָ֑ם	יָרִ֣יב	כִּֽייְ֭הוָה
𐤍𐤐𐤔	𐤒􉀑𐤏𐤉𐤄𐤌	𐤀𐤕	𐤅𐤒􉀑𐤏	𐤓𐤉􉀑𐤌	𐤉𐤓𐤉􉀑	𐤊𐤉𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄
na-pa-sha	qa-ba-'a-yha-m	aa-tha	wa-qa-ba-'	ra-yba-m	ya-ra-yb	ka-yya-hwa-ha
napes	qobe'eyhem	'et	weqaba'	riybam	yariyb	kiyyehwah
	those who rob them.		and will plunder	their case	will take up	for the LORD

22-23. For the LORD will plead their cause, and spoil the soul of those that spoiled them.

pro 22:24

תָבֹֽוא	לֹ֣א	חֵ֝מֹות	אִ֥ישׁ	וְאֶת	אָ֑ף	בַּ֣עַל	אֶת	תִּ֭תְרַע	אַל
𐤕􉀑𐤅𐤀	𐤋𐤀	𐤇𐤌𐤅𐤕	𐤀𐤉𐤔	𐤅𐤀𐤕	𐤀𐤐	􉀑𐤏𐤋	𐤀𐤕	𐤕𐤕𐤓𐤏	𐤀𐤋
tha-ba-wa	la-a	cha-ma-wtha	aa-ysha	wa-aa-tha	aa-ph	ba-'a-l	aa-tha	tha-tha-ra-'	aa-l
tabow'	lo'	hemowt	'iys	we'et	'ap	ba'al	'et	titera'	'al
associate	and do not	a hot-tempered	man,	with	an angry	man,	with	make friends	Do not

22-24. Make no friendship with an angry man; and with a furious man thou shalt not go:

לְנַפְשֶֽׁךָ	מֹוקֵ֣שׁ	וְלָקַחְתָּ֖	אֹֽרְחֹתָ֑יו	פֶּןתֶּאֱלַ֥ף
𐤋𐤍𐤐𐤔𐤊	𐤌𐤅𐤒𐤔	𐤅𐤋𐤒𐤇𐤕	𐤀𐤓𐤇𐤕𐤉𐤅	𐤐𐤍𐤕𐤀𐤋𐤐
la-na-pa-sha-ka	ma-wqa-sha	wa-la-qa-cha-tha	aa-ra-cha-tha-ywa	pa-ntha-au-la-ph
lenapeseka	mowqes	welaqaheta	'orehotayw	pente'elap
yourself	in a snare.	and entangle	his ways	or you may learn

22-25. Lest thou learn his ways, and get a snare to thy soul.

מַשָּׁאֹֽות	בַּ֝עֹרְבִ֗ים	כָ֑ף	בְתֹֽקְעֵי	תְּהִ֥י	אַל
𐤌𐤔𐤀𐤅𐤕	􉀑𐤏𐤓􉀑𐤉𐤌	𐤊𐤐	􉀑𐤕𐤒𐤏𐤉	𐤕𐤄𐤉	𐤀𐤋
ma-sha-aa-wtha	ba-'a-ra-ba-ym	ka-ph	ba-tha-qa-'a-ya	tha-ha-ya	aa-l
masa'owt	ba'orebiym	kap	betoqe'ey	tehiy	'al
for debts.	who puts up security		one who gives pledges,	be	Do not

22-26. Be not thou one of them that strike hands, or of them that are sureties for debts.

pro 22:27
