26-1. As snow in summer, and as rain in harvest, so honour is not seemly for a fool.

לֹ֣ותָבֹֽא	חִ֝נָּ֗ם	קִֽלְלַ֥ת	כֵּ֥ן	לָע֑וּף	דְּרֹ֣ור	כַּ	לָ֭נוּד	צִּפֹּ֣ור	כַּ
𐤋𐤅𐤕􉀑𐤀	𐤇𐤍𐤌	𐤒𐤋𐤋𐤕	𐤊𐤍	𐤋𐤏𐤅𐤐	𐤃𐤓𐤅𐤓	𐤊	𐤋𐤍𐤅𐤃	𐤑𐤐𐤅𐤓	𐤊
la-wtha-ba-a	cha-na-m	qa-la-la-tha	ka-n	la-'wph	da-ra-wr	ka	la-nwd	sa-pa-wr	ka
lowtabo'	hinam	qilelat	ken	la'wp	derowr	ka	lanwd	sipowr	ka
does not come to rest.	an undeserved	curse		or darting	swallow,		Like a fluttering	sparrow

26-2. As the bird by wandering, as the swallow by flying, so the curse causeless shall not come.

pro 26:3

כְּסִילִֽים	לְגֵ֣ו	וְ֝שֵׁ֗בֶט	לַחֲמֹ֑ור	מֶ֣תֶג	לַ֭סּוּס	שֹׁ֣וט
𐤊𐤎𐤉𐤋𐤉𐤌	𐤋𐤂𐤅	𐤅𐤔􉀑𐤈	𐤋𐤇𐤌𐤅𐤓	𐤌𐤕𐤂	𐤋𐤎𐤅𐤎	𐤔𐤅𐤈
ka-sa-yla-ym	la-ga-wa	wa-sha-ba-t	la-chama-wr	ma-tha-gh	la-swsh	sha-wt
kesiyliym	legew	wesebet	lahamowr	meteg	lasws	sowt
of fools!	for the backs	and a rod	for the donkey,	a bridle	for the horse,	A whip

26-3. A whip for the horse, a bridle for the ass, and a rod for the fool's back.

אָֽתָּה	לֹּ֥וגַם	פֶּֽןתִּשְׁוֶה	אִוַּלְתֹּ֑ו	כְּ	כְּ֭סִיל	תַּ֣עַן	אַל
𐤀𐤕𐤄	𐤋𐤅𐤂𐤌	𐤐𐤍𐤕𐤔𐤅𐤄	𐤀𐤅𐤋𐤕𐤅	𐤊	𐤊𐤎𐤉𐤋	𐤕𐤏𐤍	𐤀𐤋
aa-tha-ha	la-wga-m	pa-ntha-sha-wa-ha	aa-wa-la-tha-wa	ka	ka-sa-yl	tha-'a-n	aa-l
'atah	lowgam	pentiseweh	'iwaletow	ke	kesiyl	ta'an	'al
you yourself		or will be like him.	according to his folly,		a fool	answer	Do not

26-4. Answer not a fool according to his folly, lest thou also be like unto him.

בְּעֵינָֽיו	חָכָ֣ם	פֶּןיִהְיֶ֖ה	אִוַּלְתֹּ֑ו	כְּ	כְ֭סִיל	עֲנֵ֣ה
􉀑𐤏𐤉𐤍𐤉𐤅	𐤇𐤊𐤌	𐤐𐤍𐤉𐤄𐤉𐤄	𐤀𐤅𐤋𐤕𐤅	𐤊	𐤊𐤎𐤉𐤋	𐤏𐤍𐤄
ba-'a-yna-ywa	cha-ka-m	pa-nya-ha-ya-ha	aa-wa-la-tha-wa	ka	ka-sa-yl	'ana-ha
be'eynayw	hakam	penyiheyeh	'iwaletow	ke	kesiyl	'aneh
in his own eyes.	wise	lest he become	according to his folly,		a fool	Answer

26-5. Answer a fool according to his folly, lest he be wise in his own conceit.

pro 26:6

כְּסִֽיל	בְּיַד	דְּבָרִ֣ים	שֹׁלֵ֖חַ	שֹׁתֶ֑ה	חָמָ֣ס	רַ֭גְלַיִם	מְקַצֶּ֣ה
𐤊𐤎𐤉𐤋	􉀑𐤉𐤃	𐤃􉀑𐤓𐤉𐤌	𐤔𐤋𐤇	𐤔𐤕𐤄	𐤇𐤌𐤎	𐤓𐤂𐤋𐤉𐤌	𐤌𐤒𐤑𐤄
ka-sa-yl	ba-ya-d	da-ba-ra-ym	sha-la-cha	sha-tha-ha	cha-ma-sh	ra-ga-la-ya-m	ma-qa-sa-ha
kesiyl	beyad	debariym	soleha	soteh	hamas	ragelayim	meqaseh
of a fool.	by the hand	of a message	is the sending	or drinking	violence	one’s own feet	Like cutting off

26-6. He that sendeth a message by the hand of a fool cutteth off the feet, and drinketh damage.

pro 26:7

כְסִילִֽים	בְּפִ֣י	וּ֝מָשָׁ֗ל	פִּסֵּ֑חַ	מִ	שֹׁ֖קַיִם	דַּלְי֣וּ
𐤊𐤎𐤉𐤋𐤉𐤌	􉀑𐤐𐤉	𐤅𐤌𐤔𐤋	𐤐𐤎𐤇	𐤌	𐤔𐤒𐤉𐤌	𐤃𐤋𐤉𐤅
ka-sa-yla-ym	ba-pa-ya	wma-sha-l	pa-sa-cha	ma	sha-qa-ya-m	da-la-ywa
kesiyliym	bepiy	wmasal	piseha	mi	soqayim	daleyw
of a fool.	in the mouth	is a proverb	Like lame		legs	hanging limp

26-7. The legs of the lame are not equal: so is a parable in the mouth of fools.

כָּבֹֽוד	לִכְסִ֣יל	נֹותֵ֖ן	כֵּן	בְּמַרְגֵּמָ֑ה	אֶ֭בֶן	צְרֹ֣ור	כִּ
𐤊􉀑𐤅𐤃	𐤋𐤊𐤎𐤉𐤋	𐤍𐤅𐤕𐤍	𐤊𐤍	􉀑𐤌𐤓𐤂𐤌𐤄	𐤀􉀑𐤍	𐤑𐤓𐤅𐤓	𐤊
ka-ba-wd	la-ka-sa-yl	na-wtha-n	ka-n	ba-ma-ra-ga-ma-ha	aa-ba-n	sa-ra-wr	ka
kabowd	likesiyl	nowten	ken	bemaregemah	'eben	serowr	ki
of honor	to a fool.	the giving	is	into a sling	a stone	Like binding

26-8. As he that bindeth a stone in a sling, so is he that giveth honour to a fool.

pro 26:9

כְסִילִֽים	בְּפִ֣י	וּ֝מָשָׁ֗ל	שִׁכֹּ֑ור	בְיַד	עָלָ֣ה	חֹ֭וחַ
𐤊𐤎𐤉𐤋𐤉𐤌	􉀑𐤐𐤉	𐤅𐤌𐤔𐤋	𐤔𐤊𐤅𐤓	􉀑𐤉𐤃	𐤏𐤋𐤄	𐤇𐤅𐤇
ka-sa-yla-ym	ba-pa-ya	wma-sha-l	sha-ka-wr	ba-ya-d	'a-la-ha	cha-wcha
kesiyliym	bepiy	wmasal	sikowr	beyad	'alah	howha
of a fool.	in the mouth	is a proverb	of a drunkard	into the hand	[that] falls	[Like] a thorn

26-9. As a thorn goeth up into the hand of a drunkard, so is a parable in the mouths of fools.

pro 26:10

עֹבְרִֽים	וְשֹׂכֵ֥ר	כְּ֝סִ֗יל	וְשֹׂכֵ֥ר	כֹּ֑ל	מְחֹֽולֵֽל	רַ֥ב
𐤏􉀑𐤓𐤉𐤌	𐤅𐤔𐤊𐤓	𐤊𐤎𐤉𐤋	𐤅𐤔𐤊𐤓	𐤊𐤋	𐤌𐤇𐤅𐤋𐤋	𐤓􉀑
'a-ba-ra-ym	wa-sha-ka-r	ka-sa-yl	wa-sha-ka-r	ka-l	ma-cha-wla-l	ra-b
'oberiym	wesoker	kesiyl	wesoker	kol	mehowlel	rab
passer-by.	or	a fool	is he who hires	at random	who wounds	Like an archer

26-10. The great God that formed all things both rewardeth the fool, and rewardeth transgressors.

בְאִוַּלְתֹּֽו	שֹׁונֶ֥ה	כְּ֝סִ֗יל	קֵאֹ֑ו	עַל	שָׁ֣ב	כֶלֶב	כְּ֭
􉀑𐤀𐤅𐤋𐤕𐤅	𐤔𐤅𐤍𐤄	𐤊𐤎𐤉𐤋	𐤒𐤀𐤅	𐤏𐤋	𐤔􉀑	𐤊𐤋􉀑	𐤊
ba-aa-wa-la-tha-wa	sha-wna-ha	ka-sa-yl	qa-aa-wa	'a-l	sha-b	ka-la-b	ka
be'iwaletow	sowneh	kesiyl	qe'ow	'al	sab	keleb	ke
his folly.	repeats	so a fool	its vomit,	to	returns	As a dog

26-11. As a dog returneth to his vomit, so a fool returneth to his folly.

pro 26:12

מִמֶּֽנּוּ	לִכְסִ֣יל	תִּקְוָ֖ה	בְּעֵינָ֑יו	חָכָ֣ם	אִ֭ישׁ	רָאִ֗יתָ
𐤌𐤌𐤍𐤅	𐤋𐤊𐤎𐤉𐤋	𐤕𐤒𐤅𐤄	􉀑𐤏𐤉𐤍𐤉𐤅	𐤇𐤊𐤌	𐤀𐤉𐤔	𐤓𐤀𐤉𐤕
ma-ma-nwa	la-ka-sa-yl	tha-qa-wa-ha	ba-'a-yna-ywa	cha-ka-m	aa-ysha	ra-aa-ytha
mimenw	likesiyl	tiqewah	be'eynayw	hakam	'iys	ra'iyta
than for him.	for a fool	There is more hope	in his own eyes?	who is wise	a man	Do you see

26-12. Seest thou a man wise in his own conceit? there is more hope of a fool than of him.

pro 26:13

הָרְחֹבֹֽות	בֵּ֣ין	אֲ֝רִ֗י	בַּדָּ֑רֶךְ	שַׁ֣חַל	עָ֭צֵל	אָמַ֣ר
𐤄𐤓𐤇􉀑𐤅𐤕	􉀑𐤉𐤍	𐤀𐤓𐤉	􉀑𐤃𐤓𐤊	𐤔𐤇𐤋	𐤏𐤑𐤋	𐤀𐤌𐤓
ha-ra-cha-ba-wtha	ba-yn	aara-ya	ba-da-ra-ka	sha-cha-l	'a-sa-l	aa-ma-r
harehobowt	beyn	'ariy	badareke	sahal	'asel	'amar
the public square!”	[roams]	A fierce lion	[is] in the road!	“A lion	The slacker	says,

26-13. The slothful man saith, There is a lion in the way; a lion is in the streets.

pro 26:14

מִטָּתֹֽו	עַל	וְ֝עָצֵ֗ל	צִירָ֑הּ	עַל	תִּסֹּ֣וב	הַ֭דֶּלֶת
𐤌𐤈𐤕𐤅	𐤏𐤋	𐤅𐤏𐤑𐤋	𐤑𐤉𐤓𐤄	𐤏𐤋	𐤕𐤎𐤅􉀑	𐤄𐤃𐤋𐤕
ma-ta-tha-wa	'a-l	wa-'a-sa-l	sa-yra-ha	'a-l	tha-sa-wb	ha-da-la-tha
mitatow	'al	we'asel	siyrah	'al	tisowb	hadelet
his bed.	[turns] on	so the sluggard	its hinges,	on	turns	[As] a door

26-14. As the door turneth upon his hinges, so doth the slothful upon his bed.

אֶלפִּֽיו	לַֽהֲשִׁיבָ֥הּ	נִ֝לְאָ֗ה	בַּצַּלָּ֑חַת	יָ֭דֹו	עָצֵ֣ל	טָ֘מַ֤ן
𐤀𐤋𐤐𐤉𐤅	𐤋𐤄𐤔𐤉􉀑𐤄	𐤍𐤋𐤀𐤄	􉀑𐤑𐤋𐤇𐤕	𐤉𐤃𐤅	𐤏𐤑𐤋	𐤈𐤌𐤍
aa-lpa-ywa	la-hasha-yba-ha	na-la-aa-ha	ba-sa-la-cha-tha	ya-da-wa	'a-sa-l	ta-ma-n
'elpiyw	lahasiybah	nile'ah	basalahat	yadow	'asel	taman
to his mouth.	to bring it back	he is too lazy	in the dish;	his hand	The sluggard	buries

26-15. The slothful hideth his hand in his bosom; it grieveth him to bring it again to his mouth.

טָֽעַם	מְשִׁ֣יבֵי	שִּׁבְעָ֗ה	מִ֝	בְּעֵינָ֑יו	עָצֵ֣ל	חָכָ֣ם
𐤈𐤏𐤌	𐤌𐤔𐤉􉀑𐤉	𐤔􉀑𐤏𐤄	𐤌	􉀑𐤏𐤉𐤍𐤉𐤅	𐤏𐤑𐤋	𐤇𐤊𐤌
ta-'a-m	ma-sha-yba-ya	sha-ba-'a-ha	ma	ba-'a-yna-ywa	'a-sa-l	cha-ka-m
ta'am	mesiybey	sibe'ah	mi	be'eynayw	'asel	hakam
discreetly.	who answer	than seven men		in his own eyes	The sluggard	[is] wiser

26-16. The sluggard is wiser in his own conceit than seven men that can render a reason.

pro 26:17

לֹּֽא	רִ֥יב	עַל	מִ֝תְעַבֵּ֗ר	עֹבֵ֥ר	כָ֑לֶב	בְּאָזְנֵי	מַחֲזִ֥יק
𐤋𐤀	𐤓𐤉􉀑	𐤏𐤋	𐤌𐤕𐤏􉀑𐤓	𐤏􉀑𐤓	𐤊𐤋􉀑	􉀑𐤀𐤆𐤍𐤉	𐤌𐤇𐤆𐤉𐤒
la-a	ra-yb	'a-l	ma-tha-'a-ba-r	'a-ba-r	ka-la-b	ba-aa-za-na-ya	ma-chaza-yqh
lo'	riyb	'al	mite'aber	'ober	kaleb	be'azeney	mahaziyq
not his own.	a quarrel	in	who meddles	is a passer-by	a dog	by the ears	Like one who grabs

26-17. He that passeth by, and meddleth with strife belonging not to him, is like one that taketh a dog by the ears.

pro 26:18

וָמָֽוֶת	חִצִּ֥ים	זִקִּ֗ים	הַיֹּרֶ֥ה	מִתְלַהְלֵהַּ	לֹֽוכְּֽ֭
𐤅𐤌𐤅𐤕	𐤇𐤑𐤉𐤌	𐤆𐤒𐤉𐤌	𐤄𐤉𐤓𐤄	𐤌𐤕𐤋𐤄𐤋𐤄	𐤋𐤅𐤊
wa-ma-wa-tha	cha-sa-ym	za-qa-ym	ha-ya-ra-ha	ma-tha-la-ha-la-ha	la-wka
wamawet	hisiym	ziqiym	hayoreh	mitelaheleha	lowke
and deadly	arrows,	firebrands	shooting	Like a madman

26-18. As a mad man who casteth firebrands, arrows, and death,

אָֽנִי	מְשַׂחֵ֥ק	לֹא	הֲֽ	וְ֝אָמַ֗ר	רֵעֵ֑הוּ	אֶת	רִמָּ֣ה	אִ֭ישׁ	כֵּֽן
𐤀𐤍𐤉	𐤌𐤔𐤇𐤒	𐤋𐤀	𐤄	𐤅𐤀𐤌𐤓	𐤓𐤏𐤄𐤅	𐤀𐤕	𐤓𐤌𐤄	𐤀𐤉𐤔	𐤊𐤍
aa-na-ya	ma-sha-cha-qh	la-a	ha	wa-aa-ma-r	ra-'a-hwa	aa-tha	ra-ma-ha	aa-ysha	ka-n
'aniy	mesaheq	lo'	ha	we'amar	re'ehw	'et	rimah	'iys	ken
“I	joking!”	was only		and says,	his neighbor		who deceives	is the man	so

26-19. So is the man that deceiveth his neighbour, and saith, Am not I in sport?

pro 26:20

מָדֹֽון	יִשְׁתֹּ֥ק	נִ֝רְגָּ֗ן	וּבְאֵ֥ין	אֵ֑שׁ	תִּכְבֶּה	עֵ֭צִים	בְּאֶ֣פֶס
𐤌𐤃𐤅𐤍	𐤉𐤔𐤕𐤒	𐤍𐤓𐤂𐤍	𐤅􉀑𐤀𐤉𐤍	𐤀𐤔	𐤕𐤊􉀑𐤄	𐤏𐤑𐤉𐤌	􉀑𐤀𐤐𐤎
ma-da-wn	ya-sha-tha-qh	na-ra-ga-n	wba-aa-yn	aa-sha	tha-ka-ba-ha	'a-sa-ym	ba-aa-pa-sh
madown	yisetoq	niregan	wbe'eyn	'es	tikebeh	'esiym	be'epes
a conflict	ceases.	gossip,	without	a fire	goes out;	wood,	Without

26-20. Where no wood is, there the fire goeth out: so where there is no talebearer, the strife ceaseth.

רִֽיב	לְחַרְחַר	מִ֝דְיָנִ֗ים	וְאִ֥ישׁ	לְאֵ֑שׁ	וְעֵצִ֣ים	לְ֭גֶחָלִים	פֶּחָ֣ם
𐤓𐤉􉀑	𐤋𐤇𐤓𐤇𐤓	𐤌𐤃𐤉𐤍𐤉𐤌	𐤅𐤀𐤉𐤔	𐤋𐤀𐤔	𐤅𐤏𐤑𐤉𐤌	𐤋𐤂𐤇𐤋𐤉𐤌	𐤐𐤇𐤌
ra-yb	la-cha-ra-cha-r	ma-da-ya-na-ym	wa-aa-ysha	la-aa-sha	wa-'a-sa-ym	la-ga-cha-la-ym	pa-cha-m
riyb	leharehar	mideyaniym	we'iys	le'es	we'esiym	legehaliym	peham
strife.	for kindling	so is a quarrelsome	man	for fire,	and wood	for embers	Like charcoal

26-21. As coals are to burning coals, and wood to fire; so is a contentious man to kindle strife.

בָֽטֶן	חַדְרֵי	יָרְד֥וּ	וְ֝הֵ֗ם	מִֽתְלַהֲמִ֑ים	כְּ	נִ֭רְגָּן	דִּבְרֵ֣י
􉀑𐤈𐤍	𐤇𐤃𐤓𐤉	𐤉𐤓𐤃𐤅	𐤅𐤄𐤌	𐤌𐤕𐤋𐤄𐤌𐤉𐤌	𐤊	𐤍𐤓𐤂𐤍	𐤃􉀑𐤓𐤉
ba-ta-n	cha-da-ra-ya	ya-ra-dwa	wa-ha-m	ma-tha-la-hama-ym	ka	na-ra-ga-n	da-ba-ra-ya
baten	haderey	yaredw	wehem	mitelahamiym	ke	niregan	diberey
	to the inmost being.	go down	that	are like choice morsels		of a gossip	The words

26-22. The words of a talebearer are as wounds, and they go down into the innermost parts of the belly.

רָֽע	וְלֶב	דֹּלְקִ֣ים	שְׂפָתַ֖יִם	חָ֑רֶשׂ	עַל	מְצֻפֶּ֣ה	סִ֭יגִים	כֶּ֣סֶף
𐤓𐤏	𐤅𐤋􉀑	𐤃𐤋𐤒𐤉𐤌	𐤔𐤐𐤕𐤉𐤌	𐤇𐤓𐤔	𐤏𐤋	𐤌𐤑𐤐𐤄	𐤎𐤉𐤂𐤉𐤌	𐤊𐤎𐤐
ra-'	wa-la-b	da-la-qa-ym	sha-pa-tha-ya-m	cha-ra-sha	'a-l	ma-supa-ha	sa-yga-ym	ka-sa-ph
ra'	weleb	doleqiym	sepatayim	hares	'al	mesupeh	siygiym	kesep
and a wicked	heart.	are burning	lips	an earthen vessel		covering		Like glaze

26-23. Burning lips and a wicked heart are like a potsherd covered with silver dross.

pro 26:24

מִרְמָֽה	יָשִׁ֥ית	וּ֝בְקִרְבֹּ֗ו	שֹׂונֵ֑א	יִנָּכֵ֣ר	בִּ֭שְׂפָתָיו
𐤌𐤓𐤌𐤄	𐤉𐤔𐤉𐤕	𐤅􉀑𐤒𐤓􉀑𐤅	𐤔𐤅𐤍𐤀	𐤉𐤍𐤊𐤓	􉀑שׂ𐤐𐤕𐤉𐤅
ma-ra-ma-ha	ya-sha-ytha	wba-qa-ra-ba-wa	sha-wna-a	ya-na-ka-r	ba-שׂa-pa-tha-ywa
miremah	yasiyt	wbeqirebow	sowne'	yinaker	biשׂepatayw
deceit	but he lays up	in his heart.	A hateful man	disguises himself	with his speech,

26-24. He that hateth dissembleth with his lips, and layeth up deceit within him;

בְּלִבֹּֽו	תֹּועֵבֹ֣ות	בֹּ֑וכִּ֤ישֶׁ֖בַע	תַּֽאֲמֶן	אַל	קֹ֖ולֹו	כִּֽייְחַנֵּ֣ן
􉀑𐤋􉀑𐤅	𐤕𐤅𐤏􉀑𐤅𐤕	􉀑𐤅𐤊𐤉𐤔􉀑𐤏	𐤕𐤀𐤌𐤍	𐤀𐤋	𐤒𐤅𐤋𐤅	𐤊𐤉𐤉𐤇𐤍𐤍
ba-la-ba-wa	tha-w'a-ba-wtha	ba-wka-ysha-ba-'	tha-aama-n	aa-l	qa-wla-wa	ka-yya-cha-na-n
belibow	tow'ebowt	bowkiyseba'	ta'amen	'al	qowlow	kiyyehanen
[fill] his heart.	abominations	for seven	believe him,	do not	he speaks	When graciously,

26-25. When he speaketh fair, believe him not: for there are seven abominations in his heart.

בְקָהָֽל	רָעָתֹ֣ו	תִּגָּלֶ֖ה	בְּמַשָּׁאֹ֑ון	שִׂ֭נְאָה	תִּכַּסֶּ֣ה
􉀑𐤒𐤄𐤋	𐤓𐤏𐤕𐤅	𐤕𐤂𐤋𐤄	􉀑𐤌𐤔𐤀𐤅𐤍	𐤔𐤍𐤀𐤄	𐤕𐤊𐤎𐤄
ba-qa-ha-l	ra-'a-tha-wa	tha-ga-la-ha	ba-ma-sha-aa-wn	sha-na-aa-ha	tha-ka-sa-ha
beqahal	ra'atow	tigaleh	bemasa'own	sine'ah	tikaseh
in the assembly.	his wickedness	will be exposed	by deception,	Though his hatred	is concealed

26-26. Whose hatred is covered by deceit, his wickedness shall be shewed before the whole congregation.

אֵלָ֥יותָּשֽׁוּב	אֶ֝בֶן	וְגֹ֥לֵ֥ל	בָּ֣הּיִפֹּ֑ל	שַּׁ֭חַת	כֹּֽרֶה

aa-la-ywtha-shwb	aa-ba-n	wa-ga-la-l	ba-hya-pa-l	sha-cha-tha	ka-ra-ha
'elaywtaswb	'eben	wegolel	bahyipol	sahat	koreh
on him. it will come back	a stone,	and whoever rolls	will fall into it,	a pit	He who digs

26-27. Whoso diggeth a pit shall fall therein: and he that rolleth a stone, it will return upon him.

מִדְחֶֽה	יַעֲשֶׂ֥ה	חָ֝לָ֗ק	וּפֶ֥ה	דַכָּ֑יו	יִשְׂנָ֣א	שֶׁ֭קֶר	לְֽשֹׁון

26-28. A lying tongue hateth those that are afflicted by it; and a flattering mouth worketh ruin.
