job 3:1

יֹומֹֽו	אֶת	וַיְקַלֵּ֖ל	פִּ֔יהוּ	אֶת	אִיֹּוב֙	פָּתַ֤ח	כֵ֗ן	אַחֲרֵי
𐤉𐤅𐤌𐤅	𐤀𐤕	𐤅𐤉𐤒𐤋𐤋	𐤐𐤉𐤄𐤅	𐤀𐤕	𐤀𐤉𐤅􉀑	𐤐𐤕𐤇	𐤊𐤍	𐤀𐤇𐤓𐤉
ya-wma-wa	aa-tha	wa-ya-qa-la-l	pa-yhwa	aa-tha	aa-ya-wb	pa-tha-cha	ka-n	aa-chara-ya
yowmow	'et	wayeqalel	piyhw	'et	'iyowb	patah	ken	'aharey
the day of his [birth].		and cursed	his mouth		Job	opened	this,	After

3-1. After this opened Job his mouth, and cursed his day.

job 3:2

וַיֹּאמַֽר	אִיֹּ֗וב	וַיַּ֥עַן
𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓	𐤀𐤉𐤅􉀑	𐤅𐤉𐤏𐤍
wa-ya-ama-r	aa-ya-wb	wa-ya-'a-n
wayo'mar	'iyowb	waya'an
said:	[he]	And [this is what]

3-2. And Job spake, and said,

job 3:3

גָֽבֶר	הֹ֣רָה	אָ֝מַ֗ר	בֹּ֑ווְהַלַּ֥יְלָה	אִוָּ֣לֶד	יֹ֖ום	יֹ֣אבַד
𐤂􉀑𐤓	𐤄𐤓𐤄	𐤀𐤌𐤓	􉀑𐤅𐤅𐤄𐤋𐤉𐤋𐤄	𐤀𐤅𐤋𐤃	𐤉𐤅𐤌	𐤉𐤀􉀑𐤃
ga-ba-r	ha-ra-ha	aa-ma-r	ba-wwa-ha-la-ya-la-ha	aa-wa-la-d	ya-wm	ya-aba-d
gaber	horah	'amar	bowwehalayelah	'iwaled	yowm	yo'bad
‘A boy	is conceived.’	it was said,	and the night	of my birth	“May the day	perish,

3-3. Let the day perish wherein I was born, and the night in which it was said, There is a man child conceived.

job 3:4

נְהָרָֽה

עָלָ֣יו

תֹּופַ֖ע

וְאַל

מָּ֑עַל

מִ

אֱלֹ֣והַּ

יִדְרְשֵׁ֣הוּ

אַֽל

חֹ֥שֶׁךְ

יְֽהִ֫י

הַה֗וּא

הַיֹּ֥ום

3-4. Let that day be darkness; let not God regard it from above, neither let the light shine upon it.

יֹֽום	כִּֽמְרִ֥ירֵי	יְ֝בַעֲתֻ֗הוּ	עֲנָנָ֑ה	עָלָ֣יו	תִּשְׁכָּן	וְ֭צַלְמָוֶת	חֹ֣שֶׁךְ	יִגְאָלֻ֡הוּ
𐤉𐤅𐤌	𐤊𐤌𐤓𐤉𐤓𐤉	𐤉􉀑𐤏𐤕𐤄𐤅	𐤏𐤍𐤍𐤄	𐤏𐤋𐤉𐤅	𐤕𐤔𐤊𐤍	𐤅𐤑𐤋𐤌𐤅𐤕	𐤇𐤔𐤊	𐤉𐤂𐤀𐤋𐤄𐤅
ya-wm	ka-ma-ra-yra-ya	ya-ba-'athuhwa	'ana-na-ha	'a-la-ywa	tha-sha-ka-n	wa-sa-la-ma-wa-tha	cha-sha-ka	ya-ga-aa-luhwa
yowm	kimeriyrey	yeba'atuhw	'ananah	'alayw	tisekan	wesalemawet	hoseke	yige'aluhw
of the day	may the blackness	overwhelm it.	and a cloud	over it;	settle	and gloom	May darkness	reclaim it,

3-5. Let darkness and the shadow of death stain it; let a cloud dwell upon it; let the blackness of the day terrify it.

3-6. As for that night, let darkness seize upon it; let it not be joined unto the days of the year, let it not come into the number of the months.

רְנָנָ֣ה	תָּבֹ֖א	אַל	גַלְמ֑וּד	יְהִ֣י	הַ֭הוּא	הַלַּ֣יְלָה	הִנֵּ֤ה
𐤓𐤍𐤍𐤄	𐤕􉀑𐤀	𐤀𐤋	𐤂𐤋𐤌𐤅𐤃	𐤉𐤄𐤉	𐤄𐤄𐤅𐤀	𐤄𐤋𐤉𐤋𐤄	𐤄𐤍𐤄
ra-na-na-ha	tha-ba-a	aa-l	ga-la-mwd	ya-ha-ya	ha-hwa	ha-la-ya-la-ha	ha-na-ha
renanah	tabo'	'al	galemwd	yehiy	hahw'	halayelah	hineh
joyful voice	come	may no	barren;	be	may that	night	Behold,

3-7. Lo, let that night be solitary, let no joyful voice come therein.

job 3:8

לִוְיָתָֽן	עֹרֵ֥ר	הָ֝עֲתִידִ֗ים	יֹ֑ום	אֹרְרֵי	בֹֽויִקְּבֻ֥הוּ
𐤋𐤅𐤉𐤕𐤍	𐤏𐤓𐤓	𐤄𐤏𐤕𐤉𐤃𐤉𐤌	𐤉𐤅𐤌	𐤀𐤓𐤓𐤉	􉀑𐤅𐤉𐤒􉀑𐤄𐤅
la-wa-ya-tha-n	'a-ra-r	ha-'atha-yda-ym	ya-wm	aa-ra-ra-ya	ba-wya-qa-buhwa
liweyatan	'orer	ha'atiydiym	yowm	'orerey	bowyiqebuhw
Leviathan.	to rouse	those prepared	the day—	May it be cursed	into it. by those who curse

3-8. Let them curse it that curse the day, who are ready to raise up their mourning.

job 3:9

שָֽׁחַר	בְּעַפְעַפֵּי	יִ֝רְאֶ֗ה	וְאַל	וָאַ֑יִן	לְאֹ֥ור	יְקַו	נִ֫שְׁפֹּ֥ו	כֹּוכְבֵ֪י	יֶחְשְׁכוּ֮
𐤔𐤇𐤓	􉀑𐤏𐤐𐤏𐤐𐤉	𐤉𐤓𐤀𐤄	𐤅𐤀𐤋	𐤅𐤀𐤉𐤍	𐤋𐤀𐤅𐤓	𐤉𐤒𐤅	𐤍𐤔𐤐𐤅	𐤊𐤅𐤊􉀑𐤉	𐤉𐤇𐤔𐤊𐤅
sha-cha-r	ba-'a-pa-'a-pa-ya	ya-ra-aa-ha	wa-aa-l	wa-aa-ya-n	la-aa-wr	ya-qa-wa	na-sha-pa-wa	ka-wka-ba-ya	ya-cha-sha-kwa
sahar	be'ape'apey	yire'eh	we'al	wa'ayin	le'owr	yeqaw	nisepow	kowkebey	yehesekw
the breaking of dawn.		see	may it not	in vain	for daylight;	may it wait	May its morning	stars	grow dark;

3-9. Let the stars of the twilight thereof be dark; let it look for light, but have none; neither let it see the dawning of the day:

job 3:10

עֵינָֽי	מֵ	עָ֝מָ֗ל	וַיַּסְתֵּ֥ר	בִטְנִ֑י	דַּלְתֵ֣י	סָ֭גַר	כִּ֤ילֹ֣א
𐤏𐤉𐤍𐤉	𐤌	𐤏𐤌𐤋	𐤅𐤉𐤎𐤕𐤓	􉀑𐤈𐤍𐤉	𐤃𐤋𐤕𐤉	𐤎𐤂𐤓	𐤊𐤉𐤋𐤀
'a-yna-ya	ma	'a-ma-l	wa-ya-sa-tha-r	ba-ta-na-ya	da-la-tha-ya	sa-ga-r	ka-yla-a
'eynay	me	'amal	wayaseter	biteniy	daletey	sagar	kiylo'
my eyes.	from	the sorrow	to hide	of the womb	the doors	shut	For that night did not

3-10. Because it shut not up the doors of my mother's womb, nor hid sorrow from mine eyes.

job 3:11

וְאֶגְוָֽע	יָצָ֣אתִי	בֶּ֖טֶן	מִ	אָמ֑וּת	רֶ֣חֶם	מֵ	לֹּ֣א	לָ֤מָּה
𐤅𐤀𐤂𐤅𐤏	𐤉𐤑𐤀𐤕𐤉	􉀑𐤈𐤍	𐤌	𐤀𐤌𐤅𐤕	𐤓𐤇𐤌	𐤌	𐤋𐤀	𐤋𐤌𐤄
wa-aa-ga-wa-'	ya-sa-atha-ya	ba-ta-n	ma	aa-mwtha	ra-cha-m	ma	la-a	la-ma-ha
we'egewa'	yasa'tiy	beten	mi	'amwt	rehem	me	lo'	lamah
why did I not die	as I came	the womb?	from	did I not perish	at birth;			Why

3-11. Why died I not from the womb? why did I not give up the ghost when I came out of the belly?

job 3:12

כִּ֣יאִינָֽק	שָּׁ֝דַ֗יִם	וּמַה	בִרְכָּ֑יִם	קִדְּמ֣וּנִי	מַ֭דּוּעַ
𐤊𐤉𐤀𐤉𐤍𐤒	𐤔𐤃𐤉𐤌	𐤅𐤌𐤄	􉀑𐤓𐤊𐤉𐤌	𐤒𐤃𐤌𐤅𐤍𐤉	𐤌𐤃𐤅𐤏
ka-yaa-yna-qh	sha-da-ya-m	wma-ha	ba-ra-ka-ya-m	qa-da-mwna-ya	ma-dw'a
kiy'iynaq	sadayim	wmah	birekayim	qidemwniy	madw'a
that I should be nursed?	breasts	[and]	were there knees	to receive me,	Why

3-12. Why did the knees prevent me? or why the breasts that I should suck?

job 3:13

יָנ֬וּחַֽ	אָ֤ז	יָ֝שַׁ֗נְתִּי	וְאֶשְׁקֹ֑וט	שָׁכַ֣בְתִּי	כִּֽיעַ֭תָּה
𐤉𐤍𐤅𐤇	𐤀𐤆	𐤉𐤔𐤍𐤕𐤉	𐤅𐤀𐤔𐤒𐤅𐤈	𐤔𐤊􉀑𐤕𐤉	𐤊𐤉𐤏𐤕𐤄
ya-nwcha	aa-z	ya-sha-na-tha-ya	wa-aa-sha-qa-wt	sha-ka-ba-tha-ya	ka-y'a-tha-ha
yanwha	'az	yasanetiy	we'eseqowt	sakabetiy	kiy'atah
at rest	and	I would be asleep	in peace;	I would be lying down	For now

3-13. For now should I have lain still and been quiet, I should have slept: then had I been at rest,

job 3:14

חֳרָבֹ֣ות	הַבֹּנִ֖ים	אָ֑רֶץ	וְיֹ֣עֲצֵי	מְ֭לָכִים	לִֽיעִם
𐤇𐤓􉀑𐤅𐤕	𐤄􉀑𐤍𐤉𐤌	𐤀𐤓𐤑	𐤅𐤉𐤏𐤑𐤉	𐤌𐤋𐤊𐤉𐤌	𐤋𐤉𐤏𐤌
chora-ba-wtha	ha-ba-na-ym	aa-ra-tz	wa-ya-'asa-ya	ma-la-ka-ym	la-y'a-m
horabowt	haboniym	'ares	weyo'asey	melakiym	liy'im
cities now in ruins,	who built	of the earth,	and counselors	kings	with

3-14. With kings and counsellors of the earth, which build desolate places for themselves;

job 3:15

כָּֽסֶף	בָּתֵּיהֶ֣ם	לָהֶ֑םהַֽמְמַלְאִ֖ים	זָהָ֣ב	שָׂ֭רִים	לָֽמֹואֹ֣ועִם
𐤊𐤎𐤐	􉀑𐤕𐤉𐤄𐤌	𐤋𐤄𐤌𐤄𐤌𐤌𐤋𐤀𐤉𐤌	𐤆𐤄􉀑	𐤔𐤓𐤉𐤌	𐤋𐤌𐤅𐤀𐤅𐤏𐤌
ka-sa-ph	ba-tha-yha-m	la-ha-mha-ma-ma-la-aa-ym	za-ha-b	sha-ra-ym	la-ma-waa-w'a-m
kasep	bateyhem	lahemhamemale'iym	zahab	sariym	lamow'ow'im
with silver.	their houses	who filled	who had gold,	princes	for themselves or with

3-15. Or with princes that had gold, who filled their houses with silver:

אֹֽור	רָ֥אוּ	לֹא	עֹלְלִ֗ים	כְּ֝	אֶהְיֶ֑ה	לֹ֣א	טָ֭מוּן	נֵ֣פֶל	אֹ֚וכְ
𐤀𐤅𐤓	𐤓𐤀𐤅	𐤋𐤀	𐤏𐤋𐤋𐤉𐤌	𐤊	𐤀𐤄𐤉𐤄	𐤋𐤀	𐤈𐤌𐤅𐤍	𐤍𐤐𐤋	𐤀𐤅𐤊
aa-wr	ra-awa	la-a	'a-la-la-ym	ka	aa-ha-ya-ha	la-a	ta-mwn	na-pa-l	aa-wka
'owr	ra'w	lo'	'oleliym	ke	'eheyeh	lo'	tamwn	nepel	'owke
daylight?	sees	who never	like an infant		why was	I not	hidden	like a stillborn child,	Or Or

3-16. Or as an hidden untimely birth I had not been; as infants which never saw light.

job 3:17

כֹֽחַ	יְגִ֣יעֵי	יָ֝נ֗וּחוּ	וְשָׁ֥ם	רֹ֑גֶז	חָ֣דְלוּ	רְ֭שָׁעִים	שָׁ֣ם
𐤊𐤇	𐤉𐤂𐤉𐤏𐤉	𐤉𐤍𐤅𐤇𐤅	𐤅𐤔𐤌	𐤓𐤂𐤆	𐤇𐤃𐤋𐤅	𐤓𐤔𐤏𐤉𐤌	𐤔𐤌
ka-cha	ya-ga-y'a-ya	ya-nwchwa	wa-sha-m	ra-ga-z	cha-da-lwa	ra-sha-'a-ym	sha-m
koha	yegiy'ey	yanwhw	wesam	rogez	hadelw	resa'iym	sam
	the weary	find rest.	and there	from raging,	cease	the wicked	There

3-17. There the wicked cease from troubling; and there the weary be at rest.

job 3:18

נֹגֵֽשׂ	קֹ֣ול	שָׁ֝מְע֗וּ	לֹ֥א	שַׁאֲנָ֑נוּ	אֲסִירִ֣ים	יַ֭חַד
𐤍𐤂𐤔	𐤒𐤅𐤋	𐤔𐤌𐤏𐤅	𐤋𐤀	𐤔𐤀𐤍𐤍𐤅	𐤀𐤎𐤉𐤓𐤉𐤌	𐤉𐤇𐤃
na-ga-sha	qa-wl	sha-ma-'wa	la-a	sha-aana-nwa	aasa-yra-ym	ya-cha-d
noges	qowl	same'w	lo'	sa'ananw	'asiyriym	yahad
of the oppressor.	the voice	hear	they do not	their ease;	The captives	enjoy

3-18. There the prisoners rest together; they hear not the voice of the oppressor.

job 3:19

אֲדֹנָֽיו	מֵ	חָפְשִׁ֥י	וְ֝עֶ֗בֶד	ה֑וּא	שָׁ֣ם	וְ֭גָדֹול	קָטֹ֣ן
𐤀𐤃𐤍𐤉𐤅	𐤌	𐤇𐤐𐤔𐤉	𐤅𐤏􉀑𐤃	𐤄𐤅𐤀	𐤔𐤌	𐤅𐤂𐤃𐤅𐤋	𐤒𐤈𐤍
aada-na-ywa	ma	cha-pa-sha-ya	wa-'a-ba-d	hwa	sha-m	wa-ga-da-wl	qa-ta-n
'adonayw	me	hapesiy	we'ebed	hw'	sam	wegadowl	qaton
his master.	from	is freed	and the slave		are there,	and great	Both small

3-19. The small and great are there; and the servant is free from his master.

job 3:20

נָֽפֶשׁ	לְמָ֣רֵי	וְ֝חַיִּ֗ים	אֹ֑ור	לְעָמֵ֣ל	יִתֵּ֣ן	לָ֤מָּה
𐤍𐤐𐤔	𐤋𐤌𐤓𐤉	𐤅𐤇𐤉𐤉𐤌	𐤀𐤅𐤓	𐤋𐤏𐤌𐤋	𐤉𐤕𐤍	𐤋𐤌𐤄
na-pa-sha	la-ma-ra-ya	wa-cha-ya-ym	aa-wr	la-'a-ma-l	ya-tha-n	la-ma-ha
napes	lemarey	wehayiym	'owr	le'amel	yiten	lamah
of soul,	to the bitter	and life	is light	to the miserable,	given	Why

3-20. Wherefore is light given to him that is in misery, and life unto the bitter in soul;

job 3:21

מַּטְמֹונִֽים	מִ	וַֽ֝יַּחְפְּרֻ֗הוּ	וְאֵינֶ֑נּוּ	לַמָּ֣וֶת	הַֽמְחַכִּ֣ים
𐤌𐤈𐤌𐤅𐤍𐤉𐤌	𐤌	𐤅𐤉𐤇𐤐𐤓𐤄𐤅	𐤅𐤀𐤉𐤍𐤍𐤅	𐤋𐤌𐤅𐤕	𐤄𐤌𐤇𐤊𐤉𐤌
ma-ta-ma-wna-ym	ma	wa-ya-cha-pa-ruhwa	wa-aa-yna-nwa	la-ma-wa-tha	ha-ma-cha-ka-ym
matemowniym	mi	wayaheperuhw	we'eynenw	lamawet	hamehakiym
like hidden treasure,		and search for it	that does not come,	for death	who long

3-21. Which long for death, but it cometh not; and dig for it more than for hid treasures;

job 3:22

קָֽבֶר	כִּ֣ייִמְצְאוּ	יָ֝שִׂ֗ישׂוּ	אֱלֵיגִ֑יל	הַשְּׂמֵחִ֥ים
𐤒􉀑𐤓	𐤊𐤉𐤉𐤌𐤑𐤀𐤅	𐤉𐤔𐤉𐤔𐤅	𐤀𐤋𐤉𐤂𐤉𐤋	𐤄𐤔𐤌𐤇𐤉𐤌
qa-ba-r	ka-yya-ma-sa-awa	ya-sha-yshwa	au-la-yga-yl	ha-sha-ma-cha-ym
qaber	kiyyimese'w	yasiysw	'eleygiyl	hasemehiym
the grave?	when they can find	exult	and greatly	who rejoice

3-22. Which rejoice exceedingly, and are glad, when they can find the grave?

job 3:23

בַּעֲדֹֽו	אֱלֹ֣והַּ	וַיָּ֖סֶךְ	נִסְתָּ֑רָה	אֲשֶׁרדַּרְכֹּ֣ו	לְ֭גֶבֶר
􉀑𐤏𐤃𐤅	𐤀𐤋𐤅𐤄	𐤅𐤉𐤎𐤊	𐤍𐤎𐤕𐤓𐤄	𐤀𐤔𐤓𐤃𐤓𐤊𐤅	𐤋𐤂􉀑𐤓
ba-'ada-wa	au-la-wha	wa-ya-sa-ka	na-sa-tha-ra-ha	aasha-rda-ra-ka-wa	la-ga-ba-r
ba'adow	'elowha	wayaseke	nisetarah	'aserdarekow	legeber
	whom God	has hedged in?	is hidden,	whose way	Why is life given to a man

3-23. Why is light given to a man whose way is hid, and whom God hath hedged in?

job 3:24

שַׁאֲגֹתָֽי	מַּ֗יִם	כַ֝	וַֽיִּתְּכ֥וּ	תָבֹ֑א	אַנְחָתִ֣י	לַ֭חְמִי	כִּֽילִפְנֵ֣י
𐤔𐤀𐤂𐤕𐤉	𐤌𐤉𐤌	𐤊	𐤅𐤉𐤕𐤊𐤅	𐤕􉀑𐤀	𐤀𐤍𐤇𐤕𐤉	𐤋𐤇𐤌𐤉	𐤊𐤉𐤋𐤐𐤍𐤉
sha-aaga-tha-ya	ma-ya-m	ka	wa-ya-tha-kwa	tha-ba-a	aa-na-cha-tha-ya	la-cha-ma-ya	ka-yla-pa-na-ya
sa'agotay	mayim	ka	wayitekw	tabo'	'anehatiy	lahemiy	kiylipeney
and my groans	like water.		pour out	is put	I sigh	food	when when before me,

3-24. For my sighing cometh before I eat, and my roarings are poured out like the waters.

job 3:25

יָ֣בֹא	וַאֲשֶׁ֥ריָ֝גֹ֗רְתִּי	וַיֶּאֱתָיֵ֑נִי	פָּ֭חַדְתִּי	כִּ֤יפַ֣חַד
𐤉􉀑𐤀	𐤅𐤀𐤔𐤓𐤉𐤂𐤓𐤕𐤉	𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤕𐤉𐤍𐤉	𐤐𐤇𐤃𐤕𐤉	𐤊𐤉𐤐𐤇𐤃
ya-ba-a	wa-aasha-rya-ga-ra-tha-ya	wa-ya-au-tha-ya-na-ya	pa-cha-da-tha-ya	ka-ypa-cha-d
yabo'	wa'aseryagoretiy	waye'etayeniy	pahadetiy	kiypahad
has befallen	and what I dreaded	has overtaken me,	I feared	For the thing

3-25. For the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of is come unto me.

job 3:26

רֹֽגֶז	וַיָּ֥בֹא	נָ֗חְתִּי	וְֽלֹא	שָׁקַ֥טְתִּי	וְלֹ֖א	שָׁלַ֨וְתִּי	לִֽילֹ֤א
𐤓𐤂𐤆	𐤅𐤉􉀑𐤀	𐤍𐤇𐤕𐤉	𐤅𐤋𐤀	𐤔𐤒𐤈𐤕𐤉	𐤅𐤋𐤀	𐤔𐤋𐤅𐤕𐤉	𐤋𐤉𐤋𐤀
ra-ga-z	wa-ya-ba-a	na-cha-tha-ya	wa-la-a	sha-qa-ta-tha-ya	wa-la-a	sha-la-wa-tha-ya	la-yla-a
rogez	wayabo'	nahetiy	welo'	saqatetiy	welo'	salawetiy	liylo'
for trouble	has come.”	rest,		or quiet;	I have no	at ease	me. I am not

3-26. I was not in safety, neither had I rest, neither was I quiet; yet trouble came.
