job 38:1

וַיֹּאמַֽר	הַסְּעָרָ֗ה	מִ֥ן	אִ֭יֹּוב	אֶת	יְהוָ֣ה	וַיַּֽעַן
𐤅𐤉𐤀𐤌𐤓	𐤄𐤎𐤏𐤓𐤄	𐤌𐤍	𐤀𐤉𐤅􉀑	𐤀𐤕	𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄	𐤅𐤉𐤏𐤍
wayo'marh	hase'arahh	minh	'iyowbh	'eth	yehwahh	waya'anh
wayo'mar	hase'arah	min	'iyowb	'et	yehwah	waya'an
and said:	the whirlwind	out of	Job		Then the LORD	answered

38-1. Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said,

job 38:2

דָֽעַת	בְּֽלִי	בְמִלִּ֗ין	עֵצָ֥ה	מַחְשִׁ֖יךְ	זֶ֨ה	מִ֤י
𐤃𐤏𐤕	􉀑𐤋𐤉	􉀑𐤌𐤋𐤉𐤍	𐤏𐤑𐤄	𐤌𐤇𐤔𐤉𐤊	𐤆𐤄	𐤌𐤉
da'ath	beliyh	bemiliynh	'esahh	mahesiyke	zehh	miyh
da'at	beliy	bemiliyn	'esah	mahesiyke	zeh	miy
knowledge?	without	by words	My counsel	who obscures	is this	“Who

38-2. Who is this that darkeneth counsel by words without knowledge?

job 38:3

וְהֹודִיעֵֽנִי	וְ֝אֶשְׁאָלְךָ֗	חֲלָצֶ֑יךָ	גֶ֣בֶר	כְ	נָ֣א	אֱזָר
𐤅𐤄𐤅𐤃𐤉𐤏𐤍𐤉	𐤅𐤀𐤔𐤀𐤋𐤊	𐤇𐤋𐤑𐤉𐤊	𐤂􉀑𐤓	𐤊	𐤍𐤀	𐤀𐤆𐤓
wehowdiy'eniyh	we'ese'aleka	halaseyka	geberh	ke	na'	'ezarh
wehowdiy'eniy	we'ese'aleka	halaseyka	geber	ke	na'	'ezar
and you shall inform Me!	I will question you,	yourself	like a man;		Now	brace

38-3. Gird up now thy loins like a man; for I will demand of thee, and answer thou me.

job 38:4

בִינָֽה	אִםיָדַ֥עְתָּ	הַ֝גֵּ֗ד	אָ֑רֶץ	בְּיָסְדִי	הָ֭יִיתָ	אֵיפֹ֣ה
􉀑𐤉𐤍𐤄	𐤀𐤌𐤉𐤃𐤏𐤕	𐤄𐤂𐤃	𐤀𐤓𐤑	􉀑𐤉𐤎𐤃𐤉	𐤄𐤉𐤉𐤕	𐤀𐤉𐤐𐤄
biynahh	'imyada'eta	hagedh	'aresh	beyasediyh	hayiyta	'eypohh
biynah	'imyada'eta	haged	'ares	beyasediy	hayiyta	'eypoh
	if you have understanding.	Tell [Me],	of the earth?	when I laid the foundations	were you	Where

38-4. Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding.

job 38:5

קָּֽו	עָלֶ֣יהָ	נָטָ֖ה	אֹ֤ומִֽי	כִּ֣יתֵדָ֑ע	מְ֭מַדֶּיהָ	שָׂ֣ם	מִי
𐤒𐤅	𐤏𐤋𐤉𐤄	𐤍𐤈𐤄	𐤀𐤅𐤌𐤉	𐤊𐤉𐤕𐤃𐤏	𐤌𐤌𐤃𐤉𐤄	𐤔𐤌	𐤌𐤉
qawh	'aleyha	natahh	'owmiyh	kiyteda'	memadeyha	samh	miyh
qaw	'aleyha	natah	'owmiy	kiyteda'	memadeyha	sam	miy
a measuring line	across it?	stretched	Or who	Surely you know!	its measurements?	fixed	Who

38-5. Who hath laid the measures thereof, if thou knowest? or who hath stretched the line upon it?

job 38:6

פִּנָּתָֽהּ	אֶ֣בֶן	יָ֝רָ֗ה	אֹ֥ומִֽי	הָטְבָּ֑עוּ	אֲדָנֶ֣יהָ	מָ֭ה	עַל
𐤐𐤍𐤕𐤄	𐤀􉀑𐤍	𐤉𐤓𐤄	𐤀𐤅𐤌𐤉	𐤄𐤈􉀑𐤏𐤅	𐤀𐤃𐤍𐤉𐤄	𐤌𐤄	𐤏𐤋
pinatahh	'ebenh	yarahh	'owmiyh	hateba'wh	'adaneyha	mahh	'alh
pinatah	'eben	yarah	'owmiy	hateba'w	'adaneyha	mah	'al
	its core {in place}—	set	or who	laid,	were its foundations	On what

38-6. Whereupon are the foundations thereof fastened? or who laid the corner stone thereof;

אֱלֹהִֽים	בְּנֵ֥י	כָּל	וַ֝יָּרִ֗יעוּ	בֹ֑קֶר	כֹּ֣וכְבֵי	יַ֭חַד	בְּרָן
𐤀𐤋𐤄𐤉𐤌	􉀑𐤍𐤉	𐤊𐤋	𐤅𐤉𐤓𐤉𐤏𐤅	􉀑𐤒𐤓	𐤊𐤅𐤊􉀑𐤉	𐤉𐤇𐤃	􉀑𐤓𐤍
'elohiymh	beneyh	kalh	wayariy'wh	boqerh	kowkebeyh	yahadh	beranh
'elohiym	beney	kal	wayariy'w	boqer	kowkebey	yahad	beran
of God	the sons	and all	shouted for joy?	while the morning	stars	together	sang

38-7. When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?

job 38:8

יֵצֵֽא	רֶ֥חֶם	מֵ	בְּ֝גִיחֹ֗ו	יָ֑ם	בִּדְלָתַ֣יִם	וַיָּ֣סֶךְ
𐤉𐤑𐤀	𐤓𐤇𐤌	𐤌	􉀑𐤂𐤉𐤇𐤅	𐤉𐤌	􉀑𐤃𐤋𐤕𐤉𐤌	𐤅𐤉𐤎𐤊
yese'	rehemh	me	begiyhowh	yamh	bidelatayimh	wayaseke
yese'	rehem	me	begiyhow	yam	bidelatayim	wayaseke
	the womb,	from	when it burst forth	the sea	behind doors	Who enclosed

38-8. Or who shut up the sea with doors, when it brake forth, as if it had issued out of the womb?

job 38:9

חֲתֻלָּתֹֽו	וַ֝עֲרָפֶ֗ל	לְבֻשֹׁ֑ו	עָנָ֣ן	בְּשׂוּמִ֣י
𐤇𐤕𐤋𐤕𐤅	𐤅𐤏𐤓𐤐𐤋	𐤋􉀑𐤔𐤅	𐤏𐤍𐤍	􉀑𐤔𐤅𐤌𐤉
hatulatowh	wa'arapelh	lebusowh	'ananh	beswmiyh
hatulatow	wa'arapel	lebusow	'anan	beswmiy
its blanket,	and thick darkness	its garment	the clouds	when I made

38-9. When I made the cloud the garment thereof, and thick darkness a swaddlingband for it,

job 38:10

וּדְלָתָֽיִם	בְּרִ֣יחַ	וָֽ֝אָשִׂ֗ים	חֻקִּ֑י	עָלָ֣יו	וָאֶשְׁבֹּ֣ר
𐤅𐤃𐤋𐤕𐤉𐤌	􉀑𐤓𐤉𐤇	𐤅𐤀𐤔𐤉𐤌	𐤇𐤒𐤉	𐤏𐤋𐤉𐤅	𐤅𐤀𐤔􉀑𐤓
wdelatayimh	beriyha	wa'asiymh	huqiyh	'alaywh	wa'eseborh
wdelatayim	beriyha	wa'asiym	huqiy	'alayw	wa'esebor
and doors,	its bars	and set in place	its boundaries		when I fixed

38-10. And brake up for it my decreed place, and set bars and doors,

job 38:11

גַּלֶּֽיךָ	בִּגְאֹ֥ון	יָ֝שִׁ֗ית	וּפֹ֥א	תֹסִ֑יף	וְלֹ֣א	תָ֭בֹוא	פֹּ֣ה	עַד	וָאֹמַ֗ר
𐤂𐤋𐤉𐤊	􉀑𐤂𐤀𐤅𐤍	𐤉𐤔𐤉𐤕	𐤅𐤐𐤀	𐤕𐤎𐤉𐤐	𐤅𐤋𐤀	𐤕􉀑𐤅𐤀	𐤐𐤄	𐤏𐤃	𐤅𐤀𐤌𐤓
galeyka	bige'ownh	yasiyth	wpo'	tosiyph	welo'	tabow'	pohh	'adh	wa'omarh
galeyka	bige'own	yasiyt	wpo'	tosiyp	welo'	tabow'	poh	'ad	wa'omar
waves	your proud	must stop’?	here	farther;	but no	‘You may come		this far,	and I declared:

38-11. And said, Hitherto shalt thou come, but no further: and here shall thy proud waves be stayed?

job 38:12

מְקֹמֹֽו	הַשַּׁ֣חַר	יִדַּ֖עְתָּ	בֹּ֑קֶר	צִוִּ֣יתָ	יָּמֶיךָ	מִ	הְֽ֭
𐤌𐤒𐤌𐤅	𐤄שׁ𐤇𐤓	𐤉𐤃𐤏𐤕	􉀑𐤒𐤓	𐤑𐤅𐤉𐤕	𐤉𐤌𐤉𐤊	𐤌	𐤄
meqomowh	haשׁaharh	yida'eta	boqerh	siwiyta	yameyka	mi	he
meqomow	haשׁahar	yida'eta	boqer	siwiyta	yameyka	mi	he
its place,	the dawn	or assigned	the morning	have you commanded	In your days,

38-12. Hast thou commanded the morning since thy days; and caused the dayspring to know his place;

job 38:13

מִמֶּֽנָּה	רְשָׁעִ֣ים	וְיִנָּעֲר֖וּ	הָאָ֑רֶץ	בְּכַנְפֹ֣ות	לֶ֭אֱחֹז
𐤌𐤌𐤍𐤄	𐤓𐤔𐤏𐤉𐤌	𐤅𐤉𐤍𐤏𐤓𐤅	𐤄𐤀𐤓𐤑	􉀑𐤊𐤍𐤐𐤅𐤕	𐤋𐤀𐤇𐤆
mimenahh	resa'iymh	weyina'arwh	ha'aresh	bekanepowth	le'ehozh
mimenah	resa'iym	weyina'arw	ha'ares	bekanepowt	le'ehoz
out of it?	the wicked	and shake	of the earth	to the ends	that it might spread

38-13. That it might take hold of the ends of the earth, that the wicked might be shaken out of it?

job 38:14

לְבֽוּשׁ	כְּמֹ֣ו	וְ֝יִֽתְיַצְּב֗וּ	חֹותָ֑ם	חֹ֣מֶר	כְּ	תִּ֭תְהַפֵּךְ
𐤋􉀑𐤅𐤔	𐤊𐤌𐤅	𐤅𐤉𐤕𐤉𐤑􉀑𐤅	𐤇𐤅𐤕𐤌	𐤇𐤌𐤓	𐤊	𐤕𐤕𐤄𐤐𐤊
lebwsh	kemowh	weyiteyasebwh	howtamh	homerh	ke	titehapeke
lebws	kemow	weyiteyasebw	howtam	homer	ke	titehapeke
the folds of a garment.	like	its hills stand out	[under] a seal;	like clay		The earth takes shape

38-14. It is turned as clay to the seal; and they stand as a garment.

job 38:15

תִּשָּׁבֵֽר	רָ֝מָ֗ה	וּזְרֹ֥ועַ	אֹורָ֑ם	רְשָׁעִ֣ים	מֵ	וְיִמָּנַ֣ע
𐤕𐤔􉀑𐤓	𐤓𐤌𐤄	𐤅𐤆𐤓𐤅𐤏	𐤀𐤅𐤓𐤌	𐤓𐤔𐤏𐤉𐤌	𐤌	𐤅𐤉𐤌𐤍𐤏
tisaberh	ramahh	wzerow'a	'owramh	resa'iymh	me	weyimana'
tisaber	ramah	wzerow'a	'owram	resa'iym	me	weyimana'
is broken.	and their upraised	arm	Light	the wicked,	from	is withheld

38-15. And from the wicked their light is withholden, and the high arm shall be broken.

job 38:16

הִתְהַלָּֽכְתָּ	תְּ֝הֹ֗ום	וּבְחֵ֥קֶר	יָ֑ם	נִבְכֵי	עַד	בָאתָ	הֲ֭
𐤄𐤕𐤄𐤋𐤊𐤕	𐤕𐤄𐤅𐤌	𐤅􉀑𐤇𐤒𐤓	𐤉𐤌	𐤍􉀑𐤊𐤉	𐤏𐤃	􉀑𐤀𐤕	𐤄
hitehalaketa	tehowmh	wbeheqerh	yamh	nibekeyh	'adh	ba'ta	ha
hitehalaketa	tehowm	wbeheqer	yam	nibekey	'ad	ba'ta	ha
or walked	of the deep?	in the trenches	of the sea	the vents	to	Have you journeyed

38-16. Hast thou entered into the springs of the sea? or hast thou walked in the search of the depth?

job 38:17

תִּרְאֶֽה	צַלְמָ֣וֶת	וְשַׁעֲרֵ֖י	מָ֑וֶת	לְ֭ךָשַׁעֲרֵי	נִגְל֣וּ	הֲ
𐤕𐤓𐤀𐤄	𐤑𐤋𐤌𐤅𐤕	𐤅𐤔𐤏𐤓𐤉	𐤌𐤅𐤕	𐤋𐤊𐤔𐤏𐤓𐤉	𐤍𐤂𐤋𐤅	𐤄
tire'ehh	salemaweth	wesa'areyh	maweth	lekasa'areyh	nigelwh	ha
tire'eh	salemawet	wesa'arey	mawet	lekasa'arey	nigelw	ha
Have you seen	of the shadow of death?	the gates	of death	to you? Have the gates	been revealed

38-17. Have the gates of death been opened unto thee? or hast thou seen the doors of the shadow of death?

job 38:18

כֻלָּֽהּ	אִםיָדַ֥עְתָּ	הַ֝גֵּ֗ד	אָ֑רֶץ	רַחֲבֵי	עַד	הִ֭תְבֹּנַנְתָּ
𐤊𐤋𐤄	𐤀𐤌𐤉𐤃𐤏𐤕	𐤄𐤂𐤃	𐤀𐤓𐤑	𐤓𐤇􉀑𐤉	𐤏𐤃	𐤄𐤕􉀑𐤍𐤍𐤕
kulahh	'imyada'eta	hagedh	'aresh	rahabeyh	'adh	hitebonaneta
kulah	'imyada'eta	haged	'ares	rahabey	'ad	hitebonaneta
all this.	if you know	Tell [Me],	of the earth?	the extent		Have you surveyed

38-18. Hast thou perceived the breadth of the earth? declare if thou knowest it all.

job 38:19

מְקֹמֹֽו	זֶ֥ה	אֵי	וְ֝חֹ֗שֶׁךְ	אֹ֑ור	יִשְׁכָּן	הַ֭דֶּרֶךְ	זֶ֣ה	אֵי
𐤌𐤒𐤌𐤅	𐤆𐤄	𐤀𐤉	𐤅𐤇𐤔𐤊	𐤀𐤅𐤓	𐤉𐤔𐤊𐤍	𐤄𐤃𐤓𐤊	𐤆𐤄	𐤀𐤉
meqomowh	zehh	'eyh	wehoseke	'owrh	yisekanh	hadereke	zehh	'eyh
meqomow	zeh	'ey	wehoseke	'owr	yisekan	hadereke	zeh	'ey
resides,		Do you know where	darkness	of light?	to the home	is the way		Where

38-19. Where is the way where light dwelleth? and as for darkness, where is the place thereof,

בֵּיתֹֽו	נְתִיבֹ֥ות	וְכִֽיתָ֝בִ֗ין	אֶלגְּבוּלֹ֑ו	כִּ֣יתִ֭קָּחֶנּוּ
􉀑𐤉𐤕𐤅	𐤍𐤕𐤉􉀑𐤅𐤕	𐤅𐤊𐤉𐤕􉀑𐤉𐤍	𐤀𐤋𐤂􉀑𐤅𐤋𐤅	𐤊𐤉𐤕𐤒𐤇𐤍𐤅
beytowh	netiybowth	wekiytabiynh	'elgebwlowh	kiytiqahenwh
beytow	netiybowt	wekiytabiyn	'elgebwlow	kiytiqahenw
to its home?	the paths	Do you know	to its border?	so you can lead it back

38-20. That thou shouldest take it to the bound thereof, and that thou shouldest know the paths to the house thereof?

job 38:21

רַבִּֽים	יָמֶ֣יךָ	וּמִסְפַּ֖ר	תִּוָּלֵ֑ד	כִּיאָ֣ז	יָ֭דַעְתָּ
𐤓􉀑𐤉𐤌	𐤉𐤌𐤉𐤊	𐤅𐤌𐤎𐤐𐤓	𐤕𐤅𐤋𐤃	𐤊𐤉𐤀𐤆	𐤉𐤃𐤏𐤕
rabiymh	yameyka	wmiseparh	tiwaledh	kiy'azh	yada'eta
rabiym	yameyka	wmisepar	tiwaled	kiy'az	yada'eta
is great!	of your days	And the number	born!	for you were already	Surely you know,

38-21. Knowest thou it, because thou wast then born? or because the number of thy days is great?

job 38:22

תִּרְאֶֽה	בָּרָ֣ד	וְאֹצְרֹ֖ות	שָׁ֑לֶג	אֶלאֹצְרֹ֣ות	בָאתָ	הֲ֭
𐤕𐤓𐤀𐤄	􉀑𐤓𐤃	𐤅𐤀𐤑𐤓𐤅𐤕	𐤔𐤋𐤂	𐤀𐤋𐤀𐤑𐤓𐤅𐤕	􉀑𐤀𐤕	𐤄
tire'ehh	baradh	we'oserowth	salegh	'el'oserowth	ba'ta	ha
tire'eh	barad	we'oserowt	saleg	'el'oserowt	ba'ta	ha
or observed	of hail,	the storehouses	of snow	the storehouses	Have you entered

38-22. Hast thou entered into the treasures of the snow? or hast thou seen the treasures of the hail,

job 38:23

וּמִלְחָמָֽה	קְ֝רָ֗ב	לְיֹ֥ום	צָ֑ר	לְעֶת	אֲשֶׁרחָשַׂ֥כְתִּי
𐤅𐤌𐤋𐤇𐤌𐤄	𐤒𐤓􉀑	𐤋𐤉𐤅𐤌	𐤑𐤓	𐤋𐤏𐤕	𐤀𐤔𐤓𐤇𐤔𐤊𐤕𐤉
wmilehamahh	qerabh	leyowmh	sarh	le'eth	'aserhasaketiyh
wmilehamah	qerab	leyowm	sar	le'et	'aserhasaketiy
and battle?	of war	for the day	of trouble,	for times	which I hold in reserve

38-23. Which I have reserved against the time of trouble, against the day of battle and war?

job 38:24

אָֽרֶץ	עֲלֵי	קָדִ֣ים	יָפֵ֖ץ	אֹ֑ור	יֵחָ֣לֶק	הַ֭דֶּרֶךְ	זֶ֣ה	אֵי
𐤀𐤓𐤑	𐤏𐤋𐤉	𐤒𐤃𐤉𐤌	𐤉𐤐𐤑	𐤀𐤅𐤓	𐤉𐤇𐤋𐤒	𐤄𐤃𐤓𐤊	𐤆𐤄	𐤀𐤉
'aresh	'aleyh	qadiymh	yapesh	'owrh	yehaleqh	hadereke	zehh	'eyh
'ares	'aley	qadiym	yapes	'owr	yehaleq	hadereke	zeh	'ey
the earth?	over	or the east wind	scattered	is the lightning	dispersed,	direction		In which

38-24. By what way is the light parted, which scattereth the east wind upon the earth?

job 38:25

קֹלֹֽות	לַחֲזִ֥יז	וְ֝דֶ֗רֶךְ	תְּעָלָ֑ה	לַשֶּׁ֣טֶף	פִלַּ֣ג	מִֽי
𐤒𐤋𐤅𐤕	𐤋𐤇𐤆𐤉𐤆	𐤅𐤃𐤓𐤊	𐤕𐤏𐤋𐤄	𐤋𐤔𐤈𐤐	𐤐𐤋𐤂	𐤌𐤉
qolowth	lahaziyzh	wedereke	te'alahh	laseteph	pilagh	miyh
qolowt	lahaziyz	wedereke	te'alah	lasetep	pilag	miy
the thunderbolt,	for	or clears a path	a channel	for the flood	cuts	Who

38-25. Who hath divided a watercourse for the overflowing of waters, or a way for the lightning of thunder;

job 38:26

אָדָ֥ם	לֹא	מִ֝דְבָּ֗ר	אִ֑ישׁ	לֹא	אֶ֣רֶץ	עַל	לְ֭הַמְטִיר
𐤀𐤃𐤌	𐤋𐤀	𐤌𐤃􉀑𐤓	𐤀𐤉𐤔	𐤋𐤀	𐤀𐤓𐤑	𐤏𐤋	𐤋𐤄𐤌𐤈𐤉𐤓
'adamh	lo'	midebarh	'iysh	lo'	'eresh	'alh	lehametiyrh
'adam	lo'	midebar	'iys	lo'	'eres	'al	lehametiyr
man [lives],	where no	on a desert		a barren	land,	on	to bring rain

38-26. To cause it to rain on the earth, where no man is; on the wilderness, wherein there is no man;

דֶֽשֶׁא	מֹ֣צָא	וּ֝לְהַצְמִ֗יחַ	וּמְשֹׁאָ֑ה	שֹׁ֖אָה	בֹּֽולְהַשְׂבִּ֣יעַ
𐤃𐤔𐤀	𐤌𐤑𐤀	𐤅𐤋𐤄𐤑𐤌𐤉𐤇	𐤅𐤌𐤔𐤀𐤄	𐤔𐤀𐤄	􉀑𐤅𐤋𐤄𐤔􉀑𐤉𐤏
dese'	mosa'	wlehasemiyha	wmeso'ahh	so'ahh	bowlehasebiy'a
dese'	mosa'	wlehasemiyha	wmeso'ah	so'ah	bowlehasebiy'a
with tender grass?		and and make it sprout	wasteland	the parched	to satisfy

38-27. To satisfy the desolate and waste ground; and to cause the bud of the tender herb to spring forth?

job 38:28

טָֽל	אֶגְלֵי	הֹ֝ולִ֗יד	אֹ֥ומִי	אָ֑ב	לַמָּטָ֥ר	יֵשׁ	הֲ
𐤈𐤋	𐤀𐤂𐤋𐤉	𐤄𐤅𐤋𐤉𐤃	𐤀𐤅𐤌𐤉	𐤀􉀑	𐤋𐤌𐤈𐤓	𐤉𐤔	𐤄
talh	'egeleyh	howliydh	'owmiyh	'abh	lamatarh	yesh	ha
tal	'egeley	howliyd	'owmiy	'ab	lamatar	yes	ha
of dew?	the drops	has begotten	Who	a father?	Does the rain	have

38-28. Hath the rain a father? or who hath begotten the drops of dew?

job 38:29

יְלָדֹֽו	מִ֣י	שָׁ֝מַיִם	וּכְפֹ֥ר	הַקָּ֑רַח	יָצָ֣א	מִ֭י	בֶּ֣טֶן	מִ
𐤉𐤋𐤃𐤅	𐤌𐤉	𐤔𐤌𐤉𐤌	𐤅𐤊𐤐𐤓	𐤄𐤒𐤓𐤇	𐤉𐤑𐤀	𐤌𐤉	􉀑𐤈𐤍	𐤌
yeladowh	miyh	samayimh	wkeporh	haqarahh	yasa'	miyh	betenh	mi
yeladow	miy	samayim	wkepor	haqarah	yasa'	miy	beten	mi
gave birth to	Who	from heaven,	the frost	does the ice	emerge?	From whose	womb

38-29. Out of whose womb came the ice? and the hoary frost of heaven, who hath gendered it?

job 38:30
